Kalari basics & Pralaya yoga

South indian martial art Kalaripayattu and Pralaya Yoga meet on the mat for a dynamic and energizing cross-over practice designed to develop grounding, concentration, strength and flexibility.

Kalaripayattu is taught in the lineage of Kalarigram and Hindustan Kalari Sangham. It shares the same science and metaphysics as Hatha Yoga, and also follows the principles of Ayurveda.

Pralaya Yoga, founded by Robert Boustany, is based on specific alignments principles designed to protect and prolong the longevity and vitality of the joints and muscle fibers, and to activate meridians and loosen fascia connective tissue.

Over this course we will learn and practice:
– Kalari Vadanam – Kalari salutation (a short variation to fit the mat)
– Surya Namaskar with Bija mantra
– Prarambha Vyayama – Preparation exercises
– Chuvadus – Basic leg postures
– Vadivus – Animal postures
– Basic Pralaya Yoga alignments and how to apply them to traditional Asanas
– Pranayama
– Mantras
